What is GPSR?

The European Union’s new General Product Safety Regulation, to ensure all products are safe and traceable.

From the 13th of December 2024, all non-food products, being made available on the EU market & Northern Ireland must comply with new GPSR regulations. This includes all distance sellers, or those selling on EU marketplaces such as Amazon, Etsy or Zalando.

Who does this GPSR apply too?
All EU economic operators, and all those non-EU businesses wishing to sell on the EU market.

What do I need to do?

  1. If you are based outside of the European Union or Northern Ireland, you will have to appoint a EU based ‘Responsible Person’, who acts as a contact point for EU Market Surveillance authorities to ensure your products are safe and traceable.
  2. Add your contact details, and that of the ‘Responsible Person’, to the product, documentation or packaging. This includes online.
  3. Adhere to existing EU/UK product labelling requirements along with any safety instructions or warning.

How much does it cost?
This will depend on various factors (types of industry, products, quantities etc) but for low-risk products, expect to pay around €30 per month to be compliant and maintain access to the EU single market.

How can I get started?
