Instagram users are more likely to post on New Years Eve than Christmas Day, research has found.
It seems social media users would rather post about ringing in the New Year than their festive activities.
The research looked at the number of photos posted with the hashtags #christmasday and #newyearseve, with New Year coming out on top with over 7.4 million posts on Instagram. Christmas Day only had 1.9 million posts.
We also looked at other events and occasions, including Halloween and Valentines Day and found out exactly how much people are posting on Instagram to mark these dates.

Some of the most popular photos Instagrammed with the hashtag New Years Eve were pictures of fireworks. Other popular hashtags over the New Year included #newyearsoutfit #newyearnewme #newyearsparty and #newyearsresolution.
Christmas Day posts featured mostly Christmas trees, festive food and snow filled scenes. Other popular hashtags found included #christmastree #christmasdecor and #christmasparty.
